A Note from your CMSA President Welcome to a new year. I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year holiday. We are back on track now and will be having our regular Lunch and Learn January 16, 2019. The CMSA board has had discussions and we thought it would be nice to just have a couple of meetings a year for just networking. We will be kicking this off in January. We are also hoping to have more participation in corporate sponsors, speakers, and individual members. So please keep this in mind when you join us next week. As always thank you for all of your support of this chapter. See you next week. A Note from your CMSA PresidentHappy rainy February. February calendar has many events throughout the month. CMSA is just one of them. We had a wonderful turnout for the first session of 2019 last month, and although we did not have education we did have a wonderful lunch and opportunity for everyone to network. We plan to do this again towards the end of the year. In January we provided handouts with information and contacts if any sponsors are interested in providing education and or lunch. We had some good responses and are always open to more folks to assist and support our chapter. One of the suggestions (a great one) from our board is to feature a sponsor every month and allow them the opportunity to display their product. This month we are excited to feature Drayer Physical Therapy. Thank you Drayer for all of your support. I would also like to encourage more vendors to become sponsors. Don’t forget that the national CMSA is coming in June, never too early to start planning. It is in Las Vegas this year. Who wouldn’t want to go there? Remember individual membership is available online at CMSA.org. Thank you all as always for all you do and the support you provide, and I will see you February 20,2019. A Note from your President |
Fall is here and October is a special month for Case Managers. Case Management Week is October 12th through October 18, 2014. Please take time to celebrate and thank those that work so hard to advocate for patients and their needs in healthcare. Have you ever asked a Case Manager why they became a Case Manager and what is rewarding to them? Try it sometime, you might hear interesting stories. I became a Case Manager because as a nurse I wanted to make a difference in the continuity of care for the patients I was caring for. What I find so rewarding as a Case Manager is the thank you I get from patients and families when I am able to secure a discharge plan that is the best plan for the patient. Come join us for our usual Lunch and Learn on October 15, 2014. Unfortunately our presenters will not be able to accommodate CEUs. I look forward to seeing you all. A Note from your President Although I was not physically here for the August lunch and learn, you were in my thoughts. I thank the board members and especially Elizabeth McAllister for stepping in so I could have a wonderful and well needed vacation. I do hope that all of you are continuing to enjoy the monthly lunch and learns. A lot of hospitals are not letting vendors market to them as much or at all, so this is a good way to interact with vendors from all parts of Case Management. We have vendors from home health, medical supplies, skilled nursing, rehab, insurances and hospital Case Managers and Social Workers. If you have not been coming, please make an effort to come. The benefits are worth it. Education, CEUs, lunch and networking. Also we have been trying to keep the education opportunities update on our web site for your convenience.
